			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://artpalmbeach.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/image02.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-28" title="Beth Lipman" src="http://artpalmbeach.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/image02-200x300.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="300" /></a>ArtPalmBeach celebrates its 15th Anniversary at the Palm Beach County Convention Center from January 20th-23rd, 2012 with a Preview evening January 19th.  ArtPalmBeach is considered one of the most influential contemporary art fairs on Florida&#8217;s Gold Coast by both critics and art enthusiasts since its opening in 1997.  In honor of the Anniversary celebration, the fair will debut the most extensive program in its history by encompassing premiere events, special exhibitions, topical lectures, special museum tours, site specific art installations, art performances and exclusive VIP programs.</p>
<p>ArtPalmBeach 2012 welcomes back many returning exhibitors as well as introducing newcomers to the Palm Beach art scene.  The fair is comprised of over seventy international galleries presenting works of all forms of contemporary art including painting, sculpture, photography, design, fine art glass, video and installations from modern art to new cutting-edge artists.</p>
<p>The fair will honor the lifetime accomplishments of Japanese sculptor <strong>Jun Kaneko </strong>and will feature a one-man exhibition of major works sponsored by Elaine Baker Gallery (Palm Beach, FL). </p>
<p>Originally a painting student, Kaneko discovered a passion for sculpture upon his<a href="http://artpalmbeach.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/image04.jpg"></a> arrival to California in the early 1960’s, a time now defined as the Contemporary Ceramics Movement in America.  Kaneko has taught at the nation’s leading art schools including Scripps College and the Rhode Island School of Design.  Kaneko’s bronze and glass sculpture and two-dimensional works appear in numerous international exhibitions and as well as over 50 museum collections around the world.  He has been honored with national, state and organization fellowships and an honorary doctorate from the Royal College of Art in London.  He has realized almost 30 public art commissions and recently designed the set and costumes for a new production of Puccini’s Madame Butterfly.   </p>

<p>Art Palm Beach has been captivating the interest of art enthusiast, collectors and connoisseurs for 13 years.  The fair has become one of the most influential and innovative contemporary art fairs on Florida’s Gold Coast.  International Fine Art Expositions (IFAE), organizers of the 14th annual Art Palm Beach fair, have always valued a comprehensive and culturally significant lecture and panel series as a vital component of Art Palm Beach; offering fair attendees the opportunity to be educated and informed on various cultural and art related issues from some of the art world’s leading experts.</p>
<p>Art Palm Beach’s 2011 lecture and panel series will begin on Friday, January 21st with<strong>“Collecting Trends in the Ceramic Marketplace”</strong> at one o’clock.  The lecture will be given by Peter Held, Curator of Ceramics, ASU Art Museum.  Followed by <strong>“The New Glass Studio: A Plethora of Potential for Artists and Collectors Alike”</strong> at two thirty; moderated by Davira Taragin, the panel members include Brent Cole, Associate Professor of Glass and Program Director of the Marilyn K. Glick Center for Glass, Ball State University; Kelly Conway, Curator of Glass, Chrysler Museum of Art; and Steve T. Gibbs, Hot Glass Programs Manager, Corning Museum of Glass.  To complete the day’s program, <strong>“A Conversation on Aboriginal Art”</strong> will begin at four o’clock.  David Smith, Leslie Smith Gallery, Amsterdam; will be discussing the importance of Aboriginal art and it’s affect on the modern world with a special guest, Aboriginal Artist and Parliament Member, Alison Anderson.  Anderson will be coming from Australia to share her first-hand opinions and experiences with Art Palm Beach attendees.</p>
<p>On Saturday, January 22nd with <strong>“Art Now: The Convergence of Photography, Video and Contemporary Art”</strong> at one.  The panel will consist of moderator Kara-Walker Tome, owner and curator, ArtSite; and panel members Elaine Mordes, collector and Michael Rush, curator.  At two fifteen, <strong>“Albert Paley in the 21st Century” </strong>renowned artist Albert Paley will discuss his recent commissions and his current works in today’s world, followed by a book signing.  Three thirty will bring a conversation between glass artists Lino Tagliapietra and Schantz Gallery Owner, Jim Schantz.  Ending the day with a presentation at five on the new Miami Art Museum, <strong>“The New Miami Art Museum at Museum Park”</strong>, Thom Collins, Director of the Miami Art Museum, will enlighten us with the exciting plans for the new museum.</p>

<p><strong>Photography”</strong>.  Chris Mao will moderate a panel consisting of Christopher Phillips, International Center of Photography; Dale Anderson and Becky Mayer, both seasoned collectors.  Continuing with <strong>“Private, Public, Private”</strong> at two thirty, celebrated glass artists Howard Ben Tre will give a intriguing lecture on how the artists&#8217; work has been transformed by his explorations in public and private commissions. The Artist will discuss his innovative and historic use of glass in outdoor installations, seating, fountains and public spaces.  Finishing the day with<strong> “Collecting post-Soviet Art: Navigating the Waters after Glasnost and Perestroika”,</strong> Gary Krimershmoys from Quintessentially Art will lead panel members, Yevgeniy Fiks, artist and Yana Balan, C lient Liason Russian and CIS, Christies.                        <strong> </strong></p>
<p>Gean Moreno, curator and artist, on Monday, January 24th will lecture on the Art Palm Beach exhibition, <strong>“Improvising Architectures”, </strong>which will look at the meaning of proliferating precarious structures in our globalized world.  It will showcase the work of five Miami artists&#8211;Christy Gast, Adler Guerrier, Nicolas Lobo, Ernesto Oroza and Viking Funeral&#8211;alongside that of artists Graham Hudson of London, Felipe Arturo of Bogotá, and Heather Rowe and Carlos Sandoval de León, of New York.  Following will be a lecture by Campion Platt, author of “Made to Order” with a book signing to follow.  <strong>“2012 the 50th Anniversary of the Glass Studio”</strong> will close the Art Palm Beach 2011 lecture and panel series.   This lecture and panel discussion will be lead by Joan Baxt, of the Florida Glass Alliance.</p>

<p>The carefully selected presentation will feature all forms of contemporary art including painting, sculpture, photography, design, fine art glass, video and installations from modern art to new cutting-edge artists.  <em>Art Palm Beach</em> will offer the community an extensive lecture and panel series from some of the art world’s leading experts.  To enhance collector’s art fair experience, <em>Art Palm Beach </em>will continue its commitment to support major art installations by conceptual artists and introduce a curatorial exhibition program by elected curators.  Through this cohesive and unique program, <em>Art Palm Beach</em> will deliver a dynamic art fair that will meet the high standards of the distinguished exhibitors and collectors that attend the fair each year.  </p>

<p> exhibitions will include a one-man exhibition from world-renowned sculptor, Albert Paley.  Paley, one of the leading American metal sculptors, was the first metal sculptor to receive the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Institute of Architects.  The special exhibition will include the scale model of “Animals Always”, a 130 foot piece recently commissioned for the Saint Louis Zoo, in addition to some of his more recent works.  Gordon Halloran will be exhibiting “<em>Museum of Ice”, </em>a 65 foot installation by the Canadian born artist.  Halloran has created a new art form and public phenomenon, painting in ice. Curator Gary Krimershmoys, will be presenting a historically significant installation of Post Soviet Contemporary Art that will include a panel discussion with Stella K esaeva, Commissioner of the Russian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.</p>
<p><em>Art Palm Beach’s</em> annual lecture series and panel discussion highlights will include <em>Collecting Trends in the Ceramic Marketplace,</em> a lecture given by Peter Held, Curator of Ceramics, ASU Art Museum and Ceramics Research Center.  <em>Photography, Video Art and Contemporary Art- How each Form Converges into the Art of Today, </em>lecturers will include: Kara Walker Tome, curator; Elaine Mordes, collector; Michael Rush, curator.<em>  From Sand Drawing to Synthetic Polymer in Aboriginal Contemporary Art, </em>a lecture on the Aboriginal sand design that has influenced contemporary Aboriginal art, led by Dr. Margo Smith, Director and Curator of the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia.<em>  </em>A compelling lecture by Gean Moreno entitled, <em>Architecture and Art</em>.  <em>Collecting Chinese Photography, </em>a discussion led by Dale Anderson, collector; Becky Mayer, collector; Chris Mao, curator; Chris Phillips, curator for the International Center for Photography; and collector, Diane Krane.    </p>

Among the photography highlights include artists Chi Peng, Qiu Zhijie, Hong Lei, Hong Hao, Rong Rong, and Yin Xiuzhen presented by <em>Chambers Gallery</em>, New York (USA) and Beijing (China); Hendrik Kerstens by <em>Witzenhausen Gallery, </em>New York (USA) and Amsterdam (The Netherlands).  The Holden Luntz Gallery, Palm Beach (USA); will be featuring an exhibition of outstanding photography from celebrated photographers Nick Brant, Carol Beckwith, and Angela Fisher.</p>
<p>In 2010, <em>Art Palm Beach</em> broke attendance records and left exhibitors in high spirits after its five-day run at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.  An estimated crowd of 20,000 people attended, including a single-day venue record of 6,000 during the fair’s opening preview night, which marked the largest art opening for any contemporary fair in Palm Beach history. </p>
